Japan - Sweet and smooth green tea. Most common tea in Japan, Bancha is to the Japanese as what Orange Pekoe is to Americans. The leaves used to produce this tea are more coarse and contain some stalks and stems, which are steamed and then air-dried immediately after plucking. Because of the coarseness and content of Ban 2 Go, there is less caffeine present than in Japanese teas of a finer grade.
